UV Trace Dye available in DeoxIT® GOLD
Can a customer specify UV tracer dye in the DeoxIT® GOLD to insure that it has been applied to a surface?
Is there a way to tell whether or not DeoxIT® GOLD has been applied? Possibly black light marker?
We have run an extensive experiment with DeoxIT® GOLD vs no DeoxIT® GOLD for a nickel contact lithium battery application. The battery connectors used were either tin plated or cobalt hardened gold plated.
There were 4 subsets: 1. Tin only; 2. Tin treated with DeoxIT® GOLD; 3. Gold only; 4. Gold treated with DeoxIT® GOLD.
The difference on the tin battery connectors (1 vs. 2) was quite remarkable.
The "tin only" failed after a short time (80% of the sampling) in our accelerated test after several weeks. We then stopped the test and treated the failed tin connectors with DeoxIT® GOLD. All samples, except one, now passed the same rigorous test. One sample, however, was troublesome right from the start.
I suspect this one may have been treated with DeoxIT® GOLD as the result of a process error. Is there a way I could easily tell, or perhaps CAIG would be interested in analyzing. .....
The DeoxIT® GOLD may be ordered with a UV tracer dye. This should make testing for untreated parts pretty easy to accomplish.
