Soldering Compatibility of DeoxIT®

Would DeoxIT® act as a contaminant in a solder connection? If not, would it still allow for as strong a mechanical connection than if I hadn't used DeoxIT ® before soldering?

Using DeoxIT® will keep surfaces oxidation and corrosion free. We recommend following with isopropyl alcohol to remove contaminants from the surface prior to soldering.

When DeoxIT® is used prior to soldering or welding, it improves the integrity of the joint or weld.

An example of this is an automotive manufacturer in Japan. They use DeoxIT® prior to welding (repairs) and DeoxIT® SHIELD for clean welding rods in storage.

The result is stronger welds and clean welding rods in storage. When rods are free from oxidation and corrosion, welds are cleaner and require less current.
