Avionics - Stabilant vs DeoxIT®

Stabilant has been recommended on an airplane owners' forum called the Cirrus Owners and Pilots association. Owners like me have been experiencing all sorts of electronic gremlins and some guys swear by Stabilant as a contact improver that works over the long haul. Which CAIG product, if any, is most like the contact enhancer known as "Stabilant?" The two specific areas I wonder if CAIG can help with are as follows:

1. Cylinder head and exhaust gas temperature probes: Intermittent and incorrect temperature readings from bad contacts where the wires connect via quick-disconnect fittings; and where the probe ring wraps around each spark plug. Applying Stabilant to these connections and to the spark plug rings has greatly improved the performance of the engine monitoring system.

2. Avionics connectors: There are myriad connectors both within the cockpit and around the aircraft that have developed problems. The most troublesome is a connector deep inside the wing to an external compass called a magnetometer. Stabilant applied to the magnetometer connectors has greatly reduced instrument error messages and shutdowns.

Stabilant is very expensive, hard to find, and is sold in very small quantities, but seems to be a miracle product. Does anyone at CAIG know about Stabilant, and also do you know if CAIG offers a similar product?

Thanks,

P. Kendall

Thanks for sharing your success with our products. Yes, DeoxIT® and DeoxIT® GOLD (formerly ProGold) achieve the same level of performance, if not exceed that of Stabilant. In addition, our products are also economical and available in a variety of convenient applicators.

The DeoxIT® GOLD products will work for your application. If your probe and connector surfaces are severely oxidized, use DeoxIT® contact cleaner prior to applying DeoxIT® GOLD.
