Wirewound Potentiometer Care

I would like to know which of your products is recommended for cleaning and prolonging the life of wirewound potentiometers.

We often deal with proprietary potentiometers that are very expensive to replace, so we are looking for an alternative to purchasing new ones all the time.

If the components are old, you will want to avoid getting any chemicals or solvents on the varnished wires since they tend to degrade over time.

The non-flammable version of the DeoxIT® (DN5S-6N; DN5MS-15) will not harm the varnish on wire surfaces. It evaporates almost instantly, so its does not drip, and is safe on plastics.

If the surface area is easily accessible, you could use the DeoxIT® pen (D100P), needle dispenser (D100L-25C) or the 100% spray version (D100S-2) to deliver product to specific surfaces.
