Corroded Guitar PCB
I have a PCB from a guitar amplifier that has slightly corroded solder connections. I believe it was stored in a damp location but there were also mice living and probably urinating on this board. The unit is in good working condition and I would just like to clean it up before it becomes a problem.
Is there a way to remove this while leaving the components soldered in? Which one of your products would you recommend? Thanks,
M. Puleo .....
Admittedly, this is a unique problem with the mice. Our recommendation would be to turn the system off and disconnect from power source. Then take a solution of 5% ammonia and 95% distilled water, and wipe as much contamination from the surface area as possible with a lint-free cloth.
Wait a couple of days to insure that everything is dry, then spray any connections or metal surfaces with DeoxIT® contact cleaner. Use care to avoid populated areas as much as possible, i.e., rubber parts , transformers, etc.
