DeoxIT® Fixes Moto Guzzi Motorcycle Fuel Injection System
I own a 1997 Moto Guzzi 1100 Fuel Injected Sport. I applied DeoxIT® to almost every connector on my bike, let it sit for several hours, cleaned, reapplied, cleaned, then applied DeoxIT® SHIELD.
I also installed new spark plugs and plug caps to make it easier to evaluate changes in the F.I. (fuel injector) connector that cleaning might affect, and rode my standard ~50 mile commute today, then examined the plugs.
As the sensor connectors become more oxidized, the F.I. computer runs the bike richer and richer, which is most likely a fail-safe design. The throttle body control response becomes more sluggish and the engine idles poorer and poorer due to the richer mixture as well as decreased electrical control due to oxidized throttle body control connectors.
Results after cleaning:
The bike ran far leaner than it has in over four years with noticeably better idle characteristics and low-end torque. I believe the mixture is actually set a bit too lean now, as it had been set according to the cleanest I had been able to get the connectors this year.
Thanks for truly remarkable products!
