DeoxIT® Saved My Customer $5000!

A few years ago I bought a few introductory squeeze tubes of DeoxIT®, and threw them in my tool box. I went on an audio service call, and the customer wanted me to replace all the connectors on his stage snakes (they connect the stage microphones and equipment to the mixer room). He said he was tired of his previous service company's band aid approach to repairs, just to have the channels go out during concerts.

I took pictures, and told him I would do a quick cleaning so he would have sound while I figured out a quote. I cleaned the connectors on his main snake using the little tubes of DeoxIT®, and told him I would be back on Monday, (that was Friday).

I checked the cleaned contacts the following Monday, and there was no more oxidation, but there was .005 ohms resistance. I told the customer that I would like to clean all of his snake and connectors included in the quote for replacement, and if there was a problem we would pursue the expensive quote, offering full credit for cleaning.

It has been 5 years, and I still haven't replaced a connector yet AND there are no channels out of service. We also have a new service record, 5 years with no service calls. DeoxIT® did it, and it also saved our customer $5,000 in unnecessary expenses.
