What is the difference between the DeoxIT® and R5 Power Booster Sprays?

The R5 Power Booster concentrate (100% solution) was identical to the DeoxIT®; concentrate (100% solution). Therefore, all references to R5 Power Booster and DeoxIT® concentrates will be the same.

In the 5% solutions, R5 Power Booster utilized Dupont Vertrel, a nonflammable, fast evaporating solvent. DeoxIT® 5% solutions use OMS (odorless mineral spirits) which is briefly flammable, somewhat slower to evaporate but more far more cost effective per use.

When a non-flammable, fast evaporating solvent that is safe on plastics is required or desired, the DeoxIT® DN5 (DN5S-6N or DN5MS-15) have replaced the R5 Power Booster.

When economy with the same level of efficacy is important, choose the original DeoxIT® (D5S-6 or D5MS-15), which is safe on MOST plastics. It is always advisable to do a small scale evalutaion PRIOR to treatment.

The 100% products or "N" series products are preferable for vintage equipment, due to the unpredictable nature of aging ABS plastics.
