Equivalent DeoxIT® product to Stabilant 22

Dear CAIG,
Can you give me any information on whether the DeoxIT SHIELD is an equivalent product to STABILANT 22. Reason being Bell helicopter has put out a tech bullentin stating the usage of STABILANT 22 on all connectors. Technically you are only should use the products that Bell allow. I have been using DeoxIT SHIELD for quite some time now and wish to continue doing so as it works very well. It definitely reduces connector contamination faults. There is plenty of info on the web regarding STAB 22, from the info available can you tell me if the SHIELD is a similar product to the STAB 22.

Morning Matthew,
We basically have three products for metal electrical connections.  DeoxIT®, DeoxIT® GOLD and DeoxIT® SHIELD.
If you select the first few data sheets on this page (http://store.caig.com/s.nl/sc.18/category.236/.f) it will give you additional information.

Basically, DeoxIT® should first be used on surfaces that are oxidized (has 20% cleaner in it),  DeoxIT® GOLD (0.5% cleaner) will remove minor amounts of oxidation and should be used on plated connections, especially gold.  DeoxIT® SHIELD (0.0% cleaner) should be used on surfaces that are perfectly clean.

To answer your question, it depends on the condition of your connections.  DeoxIT® GOLD if some oxidation is present, DeoxIT® SHIELD if it is clean.  If their is severe oxidation, then DeoxIT® to pre-clean.
What makes our products unique and separates us from other products is that it dissovles oxidation (without harm to the surfaces), improves conductivity and is ideal for moving (under vibration) connections.  Many coatings require re-application if the connection is disturbed or re-inserted.

Thank you,
