Oxidized and pitted gold connectors and contacts

I have treated gold plated RCA's with DeoxIT®, but the surfaces of the contacts are still slightly rough and not smooth. I understand that it may not be possible to restore the original appearance, but after applying the DeoxIT® D5, the RCA’s still seem to be covered with thin layers of grayish deposits, which I believe to be oxides.

It is these deposits that give the rough texture of the surfaces. Can you help me?

Thanks,

M. Lim
.....

If the surface is not smooth, pitting and blistering has probably already begun. Please refer to our DeoxIT® GOLD SB-G100 bulletin (listed under the “Support” tab, then scroll down the blue hyperlink titles to the “DeoxIT® GOLD Tech Info Sheet).”

1) Apply DeoxIT® and let it sit overnight.
2) The following day wipe off whatever has been lifted by the DeoxIT® with a lint-free cloth or swab.
3) Apply DeoxIT® again, and let it sit for one hour; wipe off with a lint-free cloth or swab.
3) Once no more contaminants are seen on the cloth or swab, finish with DeoxIT® GOLD.

Our products reverse the physical changes caused by blistering, but they can and will dissolve and remove the contaminants and prevent the surface from getting worse.
