Radio Controlled Float Planes

I was reviewing your product and need to be advised if this will work for the following. Several of us fly radio controlled float planes on the lake, and we are always trying to protect our receivers and servos from water.

No matter how well we wrap the receivers in plastic wrap, water still seeps in, especially when you crash instead of landing properly. Would one of your products help protect these items should they become wet?

Thanks for your information,

B. Howard

Please read the following excerpt. Although it specifically addresses marine issues, based on what you have stated, yours is still a marine application:

1. Apply DeoxIT® to the contact/connector surface.
2. If the surface is heavily oxidized, leave the DeoxIT® on overnight, if possible.
3. The following day, remove any contaminants lifted by the DeoxIT® with a lint-free swab, nylon brush OR “canned” (compressed air), if necessary. Repeat above steps if necessary.
4. Spray a couple of short bursts of DeoxIT®, wait 3-5 minutes, then finish with DeoxIT® SHIELD.

DeoxIT® SHIELD seals the surface to prevent contaminant intrusion, therefore it is important to thoroughly remove any oxidation or contamination with DeoxIT® first.

If populated circuit boards are to be treated, a simple mylar or metal template should be placed against the component areas to avoid potential over-spray when using the aerosol version(s).

NOTE: DeoxIT® does not necessarily remove any superficial discoloration caused by oxidation.

If the metal surface is already clean, go directly to the DeoxIT® SHIELD treatment. For reference, it has 0% cleaning ability.

The 5% solution is preferred for most applications, however, if the 100% solution is chosen, remember to wipe off any excess with a clean lint-free swab or cloth.

The recommended part numbers are as follows:
DeoxIT® (D5S-6)
DeoxIT® SHIELD (S5S-6)
