MARK IVB MIL Antenna Connectors
We are in the process of visiting various sites around the world to refurbish our antenna systems. Most of the sites are near the ocean (salt air environments).
On recent visits to the sites we noticed that many of the MIL Spec connector bodies showed signs of oxidation. The connectors have aluminum bodies and olive-drab finish, some of which has worn off, and the contact pins are gold plated.
1. Which of your products would you recommend for cleaning and providing protection against further corrosion? 2. How long will the DeoxIT® SHIELD protect the surface it is applied to?
R. Estes .....
Despite the fact that we're dealing with dissimilar metals, one of which is gold, we would still be inclined to recommend DeoxIT®, then DeoxIT® SHIELD, omitting the DeoxIT® GOLD, as would be our norm.
The protection value of the DeoxIT® SHIELD could potentially last for years. Due to all of the possible variables, it's difficult to be more specific than that.
