Edge-connectors, Memory Chips & CPU Chip Maintenance
I'm new to DeoxIT® and DeoxIT® GOLD, and I just purchased 7.4 ml bottles with brush for both. I'm planning to clean computer components (edge-connectors on PCI boards, memory chips, CPU chips). First DeoxIT®, then DeoxIT® GOLD.
Since the brush will get DeoxIT® and DeoxIT® GOLD on areas between pins, I'm wondering if either product leaves any sort of conductive residue? I don't want to short-out pins (edge-connectors) on memory chips, CPU, etc.
Thanks,
P. Perucci .....
The DeoxIT®, DeoxIT® GOLD or DeoxIT® SHIELD will not short out pins. However, dust, dirt and other air-born contaminants may attach to the pins and possibly short out the pins, so care needs to be taken to keep these surfaces particulate free.
The above products enhance the conductivity of the metal surface but are not themselves conductive. The only caution is not to apply too much, and to remove any excess product.
You may also choose our convenient pen version of the DeoxIT® and DeoxIT® GOLD (D100P & G100P), since it was created to handle this specific application, and you won't need to concern yourself with any additional steps.
